A long time ago (say about 15 years) I use to be something of a musician. Things changed and my Strat got pushed to the back of the closet, and the Marshall halfstack sat in an inaccessible corner collecting dust.
Well, since I updated the PME website with some old music scores I did a few years ago in FL Studio, my interest has been peaked again. I broke out the Strat and my Ibanez and did a little tuning. I still need a professional setup but they work for now. I dug the Marshall out of the corner and cleaned it up. It’s good to hear that wall thumping tone again. I spend a few days practicing and after getting my calluses back on my finger tips I discovered two important things.
1) It wasn’t as hard or as time consuming as I thought it would be to get back to the level I was at before as a guitarist.
2) I really never was that great of a guitarists to begin with.
So I’m back where I left off with a lot of room for improvement. The Marshall is back in the corner for now. That thing is a pain to drag out all the time. I just bought a Fender Super Champ XD to practice on. I’m eagerly awaiting it’s arrival. For anyone that might be interesting in this awesome little amp, which I intend to review once I play with it for a while, you can get a great deal at Guitar Center right now. They have a %15 off promotion for anything over $299 through July 4th. The Super Champ XD is $299.99 so the discount brings it to about $255. Nice!
So in conclusion, I’ll sum up by providing the intro line to one of the first songs I ever wrote.
“Here’s to all things started, and never finished!”
